Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care for patients’ personal needs and comfort.
• Assist with hygiene tasks including bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, and elimination needs.
• Collect specimens and vital signs.
• Administer enemas (as delegated).
• Apply non-sterile dressings and perform surgical preps.
• Apply ice packs and heat treatments.
• Document all care provided in a comprehensive and timely manner.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-stocked patient care environment.
• Rounding and responding to call lights to anticipate patient needs.
• Communicate patient observations to the assigned nurse.
• Uphold ethical standards with professionalism and respect for patient autonomy.

Summary

Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse and as part of a collaborative care team, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support to meet the personal needs and comfort of patients. This role ensures a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment while honoring the dignity and individuality of each patient. The CNA maintains clinical competency, demonstrates age-specific care practices, and actively participates in continuing education related to healthcare.

• Provide compassionate care for patients’ personal needs and comfort.

• Perform delegated nursing tasks such as:

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant Program (required)

Experience

• Prior experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Licensure/Certification

• Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Maryland (required)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification in compliance with organizational policy
