Job summary

CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL, is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide basic patient care under supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The shift is 11a–11:30p with weekends, 36 hours weekly.

This role supports daily living activities, assists with hygiene, ensures comfort, responds to call lights, and helps maintain a safe environment. Current CNA certification preferred; BLS within 30 days; acute care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
• BLS Required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment at CGH.
• Experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with ADLs under supervision and provides basic patient care.
• Ensure patient hygiene and assist with bedpans, baths, and grooming.
• Respond promptly to call lights and patient requests.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and coordinate with nursing staff.
• Observe high-risk patients one-on-one and follow sterile/aseptic techniques.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Provides basic patient care to patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensures patient hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves and assists with showers.
• Performs and supports activities of daily living (ADL’s) under direction of supervising RN/LPN.
• Provides for comfort needs of patients.
• Promptly answers patient’s call lights and requests.
• Maintains good working relations among all nursing unit personnel and other hospital employees through appropriate communication.
• Maintains a safe and attractive environment for patients and co-workers; transports patients and equipment as appropriate.
• Instills confidence in the patient by maintaining a neat and attractive appearance and performing duties in a competent and caring manner.
• With specialized training, and written approval, may perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to assigned area.
• Accepts reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all patients.
• Understands and demonstrates proper sterile/aseptic technique when assisting in applicable departments.
• Supports an environment conducive to professional practice by functioning as a role model and resource person.
• Responsible for one-on-one observation for high-risk patients.

SPECIALIZED KNOW-HOW & REQUIREMENTS:

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
• BLS Required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment at CGH.
• Experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Compensation Range $18.25 - $27.37
