Job Summary

The certified nursing assistant is responsible for providing direct residents/customers care and following established facility/department policies and procedures. Supportive of the Village’s mission, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training hours as required by policy.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides personal care to residents, assisting with ADLs (activities of daily living) or other duties within scope of practice as directed.
• Checks and records temperatures, pulses, respirations, and blood pressures accurately and timely. Weighs residents and records weights.
• Ensures residents are clean, dry, and comfortable.
• Reports resident information to the supervising nurse or manager promptly.
• Completes required documentation of nursing care accurately and on time.
• May perform custodial, housekeeping, food service duties, and wheelchair escort services as necessary.
• Assists residents with eating when necessary.
• Participates in case conferences related to resident’s goals and care.
• Follows all departmental policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Handles stress well and maintains acceptable standards of workplace conduct.

The above responsibilities are primary; other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or GED, or equivalent training/experience.

Licenses/Certifications: MO CNA certification in MO; KS CNA and Home Health aide certification in KS. Current CPR preferred. Valid driver’s license required.

Skills & Knowledge

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
• Ability to work independently and interpret documents.
• Effective communication skills and basic math skills.

Working Conditions

• Inside environment, some exposure to infectious diseases and challenging mental health situations.
• Potential outdoor exposure when accessing residences or transporting residents.
• Emergency support duties as needed.

Physical & Mental Demands

• Lift up to 75 lbs occasionally; carry, push, pull, and reach as specified.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and coordination tasks.

Supervision

Under supervision of nurse or manager; no direct supervision given.
