Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Indiana recruits adjunct faculty to deliver CNA Preparation didactic and clinical content for a weekend cohort, aligning to college syllabi and course objectives.

The position is part-time, focusing on student outcomes, active teaching, and maintaining accurate records while following FERPA, safety, and campus policies. Experience in nursing education and health-safety procedures is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed in Indiana in good standing.
• Minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience.
• Completed Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer program.
• One of: completed state training with adult learning theory or holds Workplace Specialist License from Indiana Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Delivers assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials; maintains accurate student records and grades.
• Engages with students in meaningful ways to promote active learning and a positive Ivy Tech experience.
• Interacts with students and colleagues professionally; complies with policies and campus guidelines.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms and labs.
• All responsibilities are conducted within FERPA and applicable regulatory requirements.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

This position will primarily work to serve students in a weekend cohort.

Major Responsibilities

• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
• Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

HLHS 107 Course Standard (Didactic)

A qualified faculty member teaching the didactic portion of CNA Preparation meets all four of the following criteria:

• Is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and in good standing in the State of Indiana, and
• Has a minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience, and
• Has completed Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer, and
• One of the following:
• Completed the required state training session including adult learning theory or
• Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science.

HLHS 107 Course Standard (Lab/Clinical)

A qualified faculty member teaching the lab or clinical portions of CNA Preparation meets both of the following criteria:

• Is a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the state of Indiana, and
• Has a minimum of one year of licensed nurse experience.
