Job summary

Corvian Community School is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide dedicated one-on-one support for an elementary student throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate will build a trusting relationship, promote independence, and collaborate with teachers and families in a caring school community. CPR/First Aid certification and NC CNA credentials are required, with safety and confidentiality at the forefront.

Qualifications

• Current North Carolina Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to lift, transfer, and assist a student safely as needed.

Responsibilities

• Remain within arm's reach of the student to ensure safety and provide immediate support.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including toileting and personal hygiene while maintaining dignity.
• Administer medication in accordance with physician orders, school policy, and state regulations.
• Monitor the student's health, well-being, and comfort throughout the day.
• Support participation in classroom instruction, specials, lunch, recess, field trips, and other activities.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, therapists, and families to provide consistent student-centered support.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to medication administration and daily care as required.
• Respond calmly in emergencies and communicate concerns promptly.
• Promote student independence while providing necessary support.

This position is about so much more than meeting medical needs. We are looking for someone who will build a trusting relationship with a student, foster independence whenever possible, and become a valued member of our caring school community. The ideal candidate is patient, kind, flexible, and enjoys working alongside children and educators in a collaborative environment.

Position Responsibilities

• Remaining within arm's reach of the student at all times to ensure safety and provide immediate support.
• Assisting with activities of daily living, including toileting and personal hygiene while maintaining the student's dignity and privacy.
• Administering medication in accordance with physician orders, school policy, and state regulations.

• Supporting the student's participation in classroom instruction, specials, lunch, recess, field trips, and other school activities.
• Collaborating closely with teachers, administrators, school staff, therapists, and families to provide consistent, student-centered support.

• Responding calmly and appropriately in emergency situations and communicating concerns promptly.
• Promoting the student's independence while providing the level of support necessary for success.
