Job summary

Bristol Hospice in State College, PA is seeking compassionate CNAs to join our Interdisciplinary Group Team. You will work under a Registered Nurse to provide personal care and comfort to hospice patients in their homes or facilities.

Qualifications

  • Must have CNA or Home Health Aide certification per state regulations.
  • Prefer 1 year experience in hospice or medical/surgical settings.
  • Minimum 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training.
  • Licensed driver with insured vehicle.
  • Willingness to undergo criminal background checks.
  • Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one patient care and support family needs.
  • Care for hospice patients—personal hygiene, back rubs, oral care, linens.
  • Provide bedtime care and aroma therapy.
  • Record vital signs and report changes to Case Manager.
  • Assist with ambulation and activities.
  • Maintain clean, orderly living areas and adhere to care standards.
  • Communicate compassionately while respecting privacy and confidentiality.

Position Type: FT Hourly

Salary Range: $18.00 - $21.00 Hourly

Status: Full Time

Schedule: 11am-7pm Monday-Friday

Territory: State College, PA

Role Overview

Are you an experienced Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)? We are looking for compassionate CNAs who have a heart for patients and families. The Certified Nursing Assistant plays a critical role as a member of the Interdisciplinary Group Team. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and perform various services for patients to meet their personal needs and promote comfort.

Qualifications

As a Sweet Dreams CNA You Will:

  • Spend quality one on one time with patients and their families to support everyday needs
  • Care for hospice patients by providing paths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, and changing bed linen as often as needed
  • Provide bedtime care including personal hygiene regimens as required
  • Provide aroma therapy and gentle touch
  • Provide lotion rubs to hands and feet
  • Perform personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the Case Manager immediately.
  • Provide patient and family with positive communication techniques, within realm of ethical and respectful care, including confidentiality.
  • Help patients dress and undress
  • Record important health information including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
  • Assess and report patient condition and any significant changes to the Case Manager
  • Assist patients with ambulation and exercise
  • Respect patient and family/caregiver environment and patient's personal needs
  • And additional duties as assigned
  • Provide respite for patient's family/caregiver when on-site, as appropriate
  • Maintain patient's living area is clean and orderly, as assigned
  • Adhere to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Participate in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities
  • Respect patient and family/caregiver environment and patient's personal needs
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Certification of Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aide required per state regulations
  • Preferred to have one (1) year experience as Aide in community health/hospice or medical/surgical experience
  • Must have completed a minimum of 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training
  • Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with organization/state requirements and is in good working order
  • Willingness to submit to a criminal background check prior to hire and annually thereafter
  • Current CPR certification

  • Flexible in work hours to ensure the patients receive care as provided in the plan of care
  • Ability to empathize with the needs of the ill, injured, frail and impaired
  • Comfortable addressing issues of death/dying
  • Calm demeanor when entering the patients home
