Overview

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, a ministry of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services, is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) to join our care team on a part-time basis for evening and weekend shifts. In this role, you will provide hands-on, person-centered care to residents under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, supporting daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, mobility, meals, and emotional support. You will help maintain resident safety, dignity, comfort, and overall well-being while contributing to a warm, respectful, and faith-centered environment.

Responsibilities
  • Administer nursing care to residents based on the plan of care under the direct supervision of charge personnel.
  • Report to the charge nurse at the beginning of the shift for assignment and reporting.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, toileting, nail care (except for diabetics), hair care, skin care, oral care, periodontal care, shaving, and communication.
  • Assist residents with meals and monitor food and fluid intake.
  • Perform only functions permitted within the CNA role.
  • Conduct frequent hall rounds to ensure resident care needs are met and monitor call light response times.
  • Interact professionally with all departments; maintain positive employee morale.
  • Report abuse or neglect of a resident immediately to the DON and Administrator.
  • Work on assigned hall; do not leave the hall without approval.
  • Communicate with the Charge Nurse or Supervisor before taking breaks.
  • Use proper transfer techniques with gait belts or mechanical devices; operate equipment correctly (e.g., Hoyer lift, bed scale, shower chairs, Geri chairs, stand-up lifts, wheelchairs).
  • Plan and organize work to use time effectively, prioritizing tasks to maintain resident functioning.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in residents’ rooms and work areas.
  • Answer all call lights promptly.
  • Ensure resident safety by performing routine rounds; sign out when leaving a division for breaks or meals.
  • Report changes in condition, vital signs, appetite, mental or physical status, falls, injuries, or emesis to charge personnel promptly.
  • Support residents’ emotional needs and promote activities and exercises.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures (fire, evacuation, tornado/storm) and disaster manuals.
  • Take and record vital signs accurately.
  • Maintain awareness of the whereabouts of assigned residents during shifts.
  • Follow nursing policies, Cardinal Ritter Senior Services’ philosophy of care, and attend in-services and staff meetings as scheduled (minimum 12 hours annually).
  • Performs cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Must have completed the State of Missouri Certified Nurse Assistant training program and be in good standing in Missouri.
  • Must have current CPR certification or be willing to obtain CPR certification.
