Job summary

SOCOTEC, Inc. in Salt Lake City is seeking a Construction Services Manager to lead and oversee the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspection operations.

This leadership role focuses on personnel management, project performance, quality assurance, client relationships, and business development to grow the construction services practice. The role requires extensive experience in CMT/inspection, strong leadership and communication skills, and a proven ability to manage budgets,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years in construction materials testing, special inspections, or QA services.
• 3+ years in management, supervision, or operational leadership.
• PM experience in testing/inspection industry.
• Strong knowledge of testing procedures, lab operations, and field testing.
• Experience with budgets, staffing, schedules, and performance.
• Experience preparing proposals, fee estimates and take-offs.
• Strong leadership, organization, problem-solving and decision-making.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, multitasking in fast-paced settings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of CMT and Special Inspection operations.
• Provide leadership for project managers, field and lab supervisors, dispatch, technicians, inspectors.
• Monitor project performance, staffing, workload, and efficiency.
• Review schedules, budgets, profitability, and resource allocation.
• Review and approve invoices, billings, and financial metrics.
• Develop workload projections and staffing plans for demand.
• Lead recruiting, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with QA programs, standards, and safety requirements.
• Support staff in resolving project, client, and operational challenges.
• Maintain and strengthen client relationships; support business development.
• Prepare proposals, scopes, estimates, and material take-offs.
• Participate in client meetings, industry events and networking.
• Support strategic planning and growth for construction services.
• Promote safety, quality, accountability and customer service culture.
