Job summary

Randstad USA is hiring a Project Manager to support and grow its Construction Materials Testing (CMT) operations in Chesapeake, VA. The role leads CMT projects, coordinates field technicians and inspectors, and drives project success across commercial, industrial, transportation, and public infrastructure projects in Hampton Roads.

We seek a Staff Engineer, Project Engineer, or emerging Project Manager from a geotechnical or CMT consulting background, ready to move into leadership.

Qualifications

• 4-8+ years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experience within a consulting engineering firm.
• Experience leading projects, coordinating technicians, and managing client relationships.
• PE preferred but FE, EIT, PE-eligible candidates, or exceptional CMT professionals with leadership potential will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead CMT operations, coordinating technicians, inspectors, laboratories, and project execution.
• Manage client relationships with contractors, municipalities, engineers, and project owners.
• Oversee project budgets, proposals, scheduling, invoicing, and financial performance.
• Ensure quality delivery of CMT and special inspection services per ASTM and AASHTO standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians while supporting long-term department growth.
