Job summary

ECS Limited in Richmond, VA, is seeking a certified Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Team Leader to mentor field staff and organize mentorship within the Field Services department.

You will oversee field activities, safety, and daily communication with project teams, while supporting scheduling, staffing, and client development. The role emphasizes leadership, training, and hands-on CMT duties on construction sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Must maintain basic certifications.
• Advanced certifications may be required based on work.
• Must be able to lift 85 pounds.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Good understanding of CMT principles and ASTM testing standards.

Responsibilities

• Field Activities: Observe, test, sample and inspect materials on construction sites (soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, structural steel).
• Safety: Maintain inventory, calibrate field equipment, promote safety culture, ensure proper PPE, assist safety training.
• Communication: Daily liaison with technicians, PMs, and GCs; support scheduling and staffing; mentor junior staff; attend project meetings; assist in business development.
