Job summary

NOVA Engineering in Raleigh, NC is seeking Field Engineering Technicians specializing in construction materials testing to support our project teams on site.

You will perform field tests for soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates, review blueprints, document results, and communicate findings to project managers and clients. Travel and lifting up to 50 lbs are required. Certifications like ACI, NCDOT, and ICC are valued.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials preferred.
• ACI Certification is required.
• NCDOT and ICC certifications are a huge plus.
• Ability to lift 40–50 lbs. (field/laboratory samples and equipment) required.
• Willingness to travel out-of-town (typically overnight) for short duration assignments.

• Documentation of field activities, observations, and testing results on construction projects, and their conformance with (or deviation from) project plans and specifications
• Daily use of Metafield, and/or other field and laboratory information management systems, for recording of testing results
• Communication of field and laboratory testing results with Construction Services and Geotechnical Project Management staff, general contractors, and clients
• Calibration of field and laboratory equipment to industry codes and standards
