ECS Limited is seeking a CMT Assistant Staff Professional to join our Frederick team. This role is field-heavy, supporting construction materials testing projects under senior staff guidance.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in construction materials testing (field or lab) or equivalent education.
  • High school diploma or GED is required; a BS in engineering or earth sciences is preferred.
  • Possess certifications applicable to field work as per ECS policy.
  • Valid driver's license if driving for ECS subsidiaries.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with field tasks supporting construction materials testing projects.
  • Perform construction observation and testing activities with guidance from senior staff.
  • Document site conditions and testing results in daily field reports.
  • Communicate changes in site conditions or testing needs to project staff.
  • Interact with contractors, technicians, and project team members on job sites.
  • Partake in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
  • Begin learning soil classification and testing methods.
  • Perform testing on soils, aggregates, foundations, concrete, masonry, steel, asphalt, and fireproofing with limited supervision.
  • Assist with preparation of calculations, reports, and project documentation.
  • Support project lifecycle activities with limited office work as experience develops.
  • Perform other field and project support duties as assigned.

Job description

ECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Professional to join our Frederick team and advance in a dynamic work environment. The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Assistant Staff Professional performs field and project support tasks in support of construction materials testing projects under the direction of more senior staff. This role is primarily field-based and provides foundational experience in construction observation, materials testing, and project workflows. The CMT Assistant Staff Professional develops technical, consulting, and project management skills while maintaining a positive customer service attitude and demonstrating ECS Core Values.

Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
  • 4 years of experience in construction materials testing (field or lab), special inspections, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and experience (i.e., 4-year degree + 0 years of experience or associate degree + 2 years of experience)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Earth Sciences, Engineering Technology, or related field is preferred
  • Obtain certifications applicable to the field work performed as per the ECS Technician Certification Policy
  • If driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented work ethic
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and independently
  • Basic understanding of construction materials testing principles (developing)
  • Limited knowledge of ASTM standards and testing procedures
  • Interest in project management and consulting environments
  • Ability to document and communicate field observations clearly

The expected pay range for this role and location is $24-$26/hour. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
