Job summary

Polar Semiconductor in Bloomington, MN is seeking an Equipment Engineer to monitor and improve BEOL equipment used in CMP and Backlap operations. You will partner with production, process, and maintenance teams to optimize PM frequencies, update procedures, and ensure high tool uptime.

The role requires hands-on diagnostics, documentation in maintenance systems, and collaboration with OEMs for spare parts and support.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering or related field.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.
  • Experience with equipment in semiconductor manufacturing preferred.
  • Knowledge of process control concepts and SPC principles.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, sustain and improve BEOL equipment processes (CMP/Backlap) in Bloomington, MN.
  • Collaborate with OEMs/vendors for equipment support and spare parts management.
  • Create/modify PM procedures, checklists and controlled documentation.
  • Disassemble, repair and reassemble equipment per manuals and schematics.
  • Document maintenance activities and drive CQI and cost-reduction projects.

Job description

1st Monday - FridayAs an Equipment Engineer at Polar Semiconductor in Bloomington, MN, you are responsible for monitoring, sustaining, and improving the equipment and/or processes in the BEOL equipment group on CMP and Backlap (AMAT Mirra, Disco, Nitto), while working in partnership with production, process and maintenance team members. EE’s monitor tool performance to ensure/modify pm frequencies and schedules, along with creating/modifying pm procedures and checklists. Also assist in working with OEM’s and other vendors to ensure proper stocking level of spare parts, pricing and addressing supply down issues. They are also required to assist with equipment installs; tests; create and modify equipment procedures; and increase tool uptime through systematic problem solving and troubleshooting, quality workmanship, thoroughly document all maintenance performed in established check sheets and tracking programs, and routine review of maintenance check sheets and procedures. They monitor, analyze and address SPC issues for area processes on a daily basis and respond to SPC out of control issues.Job DutiesDevelop high level troubleshooting skills and proliferate across maintenance departmentWork with OEM’s/vendors for equipment supportEnsure proper stocking/pricing of crib partsProvide content for, and submit updates for controlled documentation (PM procedures, check-sheets, work instructions, etc.)Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment according to operating manuals, schematics, blueprints, etc.Safely perform work in a hazardous environment utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (including SCBA or respirator).Interface between process engineering and maintenance techniciansEngage in systematic troubleshooting to identify root-cause of failures.Minimize tool down-time and variability to increase equipment availability.Document all maintenance activities in Equipment Management System.Drive CQI and cost reduction projectsMonitor, analyze, and address SPC issues.Communicate issues effectively to the all team members.Partner with Production team members and area engineers to support equipmentRequirementsKnowledge of electronics and control systems, mechanics/robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics and vacuum systems.Skill in diagnosing equipment issuesUnderstanding of SPC principles.PC skills and familiarity with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to properly use common hand tools.Ability to properly use personal protective equipment.Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills.Ability in multi-tasking complex projects.Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision.Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical related fieldsPreferredExperience on AMAT Mira (Desica, Mesa, OnTrak), Disco backlap.Project Management experienceKnowledge of SPCWhat We OfferSalary: The estimated base salary range for the position is $80,000-$128,000.
