GlobalFoundries is seeking an CMOS FEOL Reliability Engineering Intern to support the Fab 8 Reliability Engineering team in assessing device reliability across advanced technology platforms. You will learn key reliability fundamentals and assist in data analysis, reporting, and visualization efforts.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Device, Process, Yield, and Reliability teams, plus preparation of technical presentations and documentation for project conclusions.

Qualifications

  • Sophomore pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Semiconductor Engineering, or related field.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
  • English language proficiency (written & verbal).
  • Willingness to work at least 40 hours per week during internship.

Responsibilities

  • Learn semiconductor device reliability fundamentals (HCI, BTI, TDDB, GOI, PRM).
  • Support reliability qualification and monitoring for advanced CMOS tech at Fab 8.
  • Analyze wafer‑level reliability data using statistical methods.
  • Develop automated data‑analysis, reporting, dashboards, and visualizations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to support technology qualification and root‑cause investigations.
  • Prepare reliability assessment documentation and present findings.

Summary of Role

The CMOS FEOL Reliability Engineering Intern will support the Fab 8 Reliability Engineering organization in assessing semiconductor device reliability performance across advanced technology platforms.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Learn semiconductor device reliability fundamentals, including Hot Carrier Injection (HCI), Bias Temperature Instability (BTI), Time-Dependent Dielectric Breakdown (TDDB), Gate Oxide Integrity (GOI), and Process Reliability Monitoring (PRM).
  • Support reliability qualification and monitoring activities for advanced CMOS technologies manufactured at Fab 8.
  • Analyze wafer‑level reliability (WLR) and fast wafer‑level reliability (FWLR) test data using statistical and engineering methods.
  • Develop automated data‑analysis, reporting, dashboard, and visualization solutions that reduce manual reporting effort and improve visibility of reliability trends across multiple technology platforms.
  • Perform data mining, trend analysis, comparative studies, and historical PRM correlation analysis to identify process and device factors that influence long‑term reliability performance.
  • Develop advanced statistical monitoring methods to improve excursion detection and reliability risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with Device Engineering, Process Integration, Product Engineering, Yield Engineering, and Reliability Laboratory teams to support technology qualification and root‑cause investigations.
  • Prepare reliability assessment documentation, engineering reports, and technical presentations, and present project findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship.
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Required Qualifications
  • Education – At least a sophomore at time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Semiconductor Engineering, or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.
  • Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
  • Language Fluency – English (Written & Verbal)
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior related internship or co‑op experience
  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
  • Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision‑making.
  • Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning & organizational skills
  • Knowledge of semiconductor devices and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with statistical data‑analysis techniques.
  • Experience with Python, JMP, Minitab, Excel, Power BI, or similar analysis and visualization tools.
  • Exposure to semiconductor reliability concepts, wafer‑level reliability, or laboratory testing.
