Job summary

Cornerstone Clinical Partners is seeking a strategic, clinically driven Chief Medical Officer to lead clinical performance and medical strategy across NC facilities and potentially neighboring states.

The CMO will oversee clinical excellence, provider engagement, regulatory readiness, and care innovation, with some Medical Director responsibilities, partnering with executive leadership and operations to ensure resident-centered care.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, PM&R, or related specialty.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive physician leadership experience.
• Minimum 5+ years in post-acute care, skilled nursing, long-term care, or multi-site healthcare operations.
• Demonstrated success improving clinical quality and operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute the organization’s clinical vision and medical strategy.
• Serve as the senior physician advisor to executive leadership and facility operations teams.
• Develop and adapt standardized clinical protocols, evidence-based care pathways, and physician practice guidelines.
• Drive innovation in long-term care delivery models and resident outcomes.
• Lead enterprise-wide quality initiatives to improve clinical outcomes and resident safety.
• Monitor performance indicators and implement corrective action plans.
• Partner with facility leadership to build a culture of continuous quality improvement.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and governance for clinical staff.
