Job summary

Cornerstone Clinical Partners is seeking a strategic Chief Medical Officer to lead clinical excellence across North Carolina skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. You will shape medical strategy, drive quality, and coordinate with executive leadership, facility operators, and clinical teams.

The role emphasizes post-acute care expertise, multi-site operations, and value-based care experience, with a focus on patient-centered outcomes, regulatory readiness, and physician governance.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, or related specialty.
• Active unrestricted physician license (multi-state licensure preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of progressive physician leadership experience.
• Minimum 5 years in post-acute care, skilled nursing, long-term care, or multi-site healthcare operations.
• Demonstrated success improving clinical quality and operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Establish and execute the organization’s clinical vision and medical strategy aligned with the facilities mission and growth objectives.
• Serve as the senior physician advisor to executive leadership and facility operations teams.
• Develop and adapt standardized clinical protocols, evidence-based care pathways, and physician practice guidelines across all facilities.
• Drive innovation in long-term care delivery models and resident outcomes.
• Lead enterprise-wide quality initiatives to improve clinical outcomes, resident safety, reduction of unnecessary hospital readmission, infection prevention and control, CMS performance metrics, resident and family satisfaction.
• Partner with facility leadership to build a culture of continuous quality improvement.
• Support Recruiting, interview, engage, develop, train and retain attending physicians, medical directors, and other clinical partners.
• Establish physician governance structures and clinical accountability standards.
• Foster collaboration among nursing, therapy, and medical teams.
• Support physician onboarding, education, and performance management.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and survey readiness across all facilities.
• Provide oversight for medical policies, documentation standards, and clinical risk management.
• Collaborate with operations to align clinical excellence with business performance.
• Advance population health initiatives and value-based care partnerships.
