Job description

United CNC Machining is a precision manufacturing company specializing in mission-critical components for the aerospace and defense industries. Utilizing advanced CNC technology within a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled facility, we are committed to delivering exceptional quality, precision, and operational excellence. At United CNC, we believe our people are the foundation of our success. We foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.

About the Role

The CMM Technician is responsible for running part inspections using our Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and PC-DMIS software. This role is focused on executing and adapting existing programs to support our low-volume, high-mix production environment, not on developing programs from scratch. The ideal candidate is comfortable reading blueprints, applying GD&T, and setting up and running inspections efficiently across frequently changing jobs.

What You'll Do
  • Operate the CMM using PC-DMIS to inspect precision-machined CNC components against engineering drawings and specifications
  • Set up parts and fixtures in advance of production runs to minimize downtime between jobs
  • Run and adapt existing PC-DMIS programs for a variety of low-volume, high-mix parts
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T callouts to verify part conformance
  • Perform first-article inspections (FAI), in-process checks, and final inspections as required
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconformances to Quality and Production teams
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation in compliance with AS9100D/ISO 9001 requirements
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration checks on CMM equipment
  • Collaborate with CNC machinists and programmers to troubleshoot fit, form, and function issues
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Bring
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Metrology, or Manufacturing Technology (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Knowledge of PC-DMIS required
  • Experience within aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience with complex machined components
  • Knowledge of manual inspection techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings and work with CAD models
  • Experience with Romer Arm or other portable measurement equipment
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain compliance with ITAR requirements (U.S. Person status required)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a sitting position for extended periods (desk, driving, and/or travel) in an office/industrial environment
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform job functions
  • Ability to lift 25 to 35 pounds
  • May be exposed to moving machinery, sharp metal chips, coolants, industrial chemicals, noise, and heavy materials
  • Cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, and files
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone
Why United CNC
  • Competitive pay reflecting real precision skills
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Privately owned, family-run culture
  • AS9100D | ISO 9001 | ITAR | CMMC 2.0 certified facility
  • Work on components that matter, mission-critical parts for aerospace and defense
