Job summary

United CNC Machining in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a CMM Operator experienced with portable CMM arms (Romer/Roamer) and PC-DMIS to perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on aerospace and defense components.

You will read blueprints with GD&T per ASME Y14.5, maintain quality records, support root cause investigations, and collaborate with machinists and programmers in a climate-controlled facility.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience operating a portable CMM arm (Romer/Roamer, FARO, or similar).
• Proficiency in PC-DMIS software (programming and operation).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and blueprint reading.
• AS9102 First Article Inspection experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with ITAR requirements and quality-system standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate portable CMM arm to inspect machined parts against drawings and specs.
• Create, edit, and run inspection programs using PC-DMIS.
• Perform FAI and in-process/final inspections; generate reports.
• Read blueprints and GD&T callouts; document results in quality records.
• Identify nonconformances; support root-cause and corrective actions.
• Calibrate and maintain measurement equipment; collaborate with shop team.
• Maintain compliance with ITAR and customer quality requirements.
