Job summary

Actalent in Park Ridge, IL is seeking a Quality Technician / CMM Programmer to ensure dimensional accuracy of manufactured components. You will inspect with manual tools and CMM, assemble parts for fit checks, document NCRs, and support project management with quality processes.

The role requires 2–3+ years in quality, CMM programming experience (Calypso), and proficiency with metrology, blueprints, and ERP systems. It’s a contract-to-hire, onsite position in Park Ridge.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree, technical schooling or trade school, or completion of an apprenticeship in a relevant field.
• 2–3+ years of experience in quality technician or similar role.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably machine shop.
• Hands-on experience running and programming a CMM, incl. Calypso or similar software.
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of QC/lean principles.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Experience documenting NCRs in Excel or similar tools.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with machining environments and CNC equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspection using manual tools and CMM; verify against drawings.
• Assemble components to verify fit and function per specs.
• Wrap, tag, and prepare items for final verification and processing.
• Document non-conforming parts and generate NCRs in Excel.
• Support project management and quality initiatives throughout the lifecycle.
• Assist vendors with manufacturing and in-process inspections.
• Log parts into stock via ERP and verify work orders for accuracy.
• Validate picklists and component allocation during audits.
• Participate in continuous improvement for inventory and lean processes.
• Train new staff on inspection methods and documentation.
