Job summary

Reliance Gear Corporation in Elmhurst, IL, seeks a qualified Quality Inspector to support manufacturing operations by ensuring all products meet specifications and customer requirements. This hands-on role works closely with production, engineering, and suppliers to maintain and improve quality on the shop floor.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing or QA, can read blueprints, operate precision measuring tools, and perform calibration activities to drive defect

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in manufacturing and/or quality assurance.
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring equipment.
• Basic math and geometry skills.
• Calibration experience required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with bevel gear manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform first piece, in-process, and final inspections
• Inspect incoming vendor materials and outgoing customer shipments
• Read and interpret blueprints, customer specifications, and control plans
• Use precision inspection tools (ID/OD micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, dial indicators, CMMs, Hofler gear inspection machine, tooth verniers)
• Program and operate manual and CNC CMMs (PC-DMIS / Modus preferred)
• Perform and maintain calibration activities
• Identify and reject nonconforming materials and assist with corrective actions
• Assist production employees with proper measurement methods
• Support PPAP / ISIR, process capability studies, and first article activities
• Organize quality documentation and customer files
• Participate in internal audits and supplier quality activities
