Job summary

Federal Equipment Co in Cincinnati, Ohio seeks a CMM Programmer III to program, set up, and operate CMMs for inspection of machined parts. The role requires strong GD&T knowledge, reading drawings, and experience with PC-DMIS or CAM2. You will prepare reports and ensure calibration and tool readiness.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; engineering/technical BS preferred.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret customer drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with PC-DMIS or CAM2 is expected; CAD tools helpful.
  • Proficient in Windows applications and basic office programs.

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate CMM to measure parts per specs.
  • Prepare inspection reports and maintain records.
  • Calibrate and keep CMM equipment in good condition.
  • Edit and verify CMM programs for consistency with part numbers.
  • Troubleshoot program set-ups and inspection paths.
  • Communicate deviations to Quality Manager and supervision.

Job Description

Position Title: CMM Programmer III

Reports To: Quality Supervisor

Position Summary: Federal Equipment Company has been a leading supplier for marine deck machinery and specialized weapons and material handling systems. Through the years the company has emerged into an internationally recognized organization with extensive expertise in marine design/engineering and manufacturing of critical shipboard systems. The company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, is rapidly growing and in need of a CMM Programmer III. This role will be producing inspections of machined/fabricated parts by programming, setting up, and operating coordinate measuring machine (CMM); maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Essential Job Functions
  • Program and operate CMM to effectively measure products to meet customer specifications.
  • Program and operate other equipment to effectively measure products to meet customer specifications. (Training provided as needed)
  • Prepare reports to describe inspection results and prepare documents.
  • Ensure that the CMM is kept clean, and calibration verified.
  • Utilize precision measurement (“hand”) inspection tools as needed for quality checks.
  • Administer and/or edit previously created CMM programs to ensure that the part inspection programs are consistent with part number and revision level.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot machine set‑ups and inspection paths.
  • Communicate with Quality Manager and/or plant supervision noted deviations of tolerance and quality.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures as applicable to position.
  • Follow all clean‑up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Understand and follow health, safety, security, and environmental practices.
  • Other duties as required.
Requirements
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma; Engineering or Technical Bachelor of Science preferred.
  • At least 4 years of related manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with PC‑DMIS (CAM2 a plus).
  • CAD/Solidworks preferred.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments, (digital AND dial/analog - micrometers, calipers) test sets, and gauging equipment (FARO Arm and Tracker a plus).
  • Ability to read customer drawings and specifications, including GD&T.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as dimensions, tolerance, etc.
  • Ability to operate Windows based computers and working knowledge of typical office programs – i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
