Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a skilled CMM Programmer to develop and run coordinate measuring machine programs using MCOSMOS with Renishaw Revo 5-axis heads. You will translate CAD models and GD&T into efficient inspection routines for precision components used in modular reactor systems.

The role requires 5+ years of CMM programming experience, strong GD&T interpretation, and the ability to work closely with machinists, engineering, and quality teams in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of CMM programming experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, or precision machining environment.
• Proficiency with Mitutoyo MCOSMOS software for CMM programming.
• Hands-on experience with Renishaw Revo 5-axis scanning probe heads or similar 5-axis CMM probe systems.
• Strong ability to read and interpret GD&T, engineering drawings, and CAD models.

Responsibilities

• Develop CMM inspection programs in MCOSMOS using Revo 5-axis scanning probe heads.
• Translate CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T into efficient, repeatable CMM programs.
• Select appropriate alignment strategies, probe configurations, and styli for varying part geometries.
• Optimize scan paths and data collection strategies to balance measurement speed and accuracy.
• Review inspection data output, flag deviations, and support root cause investigations with Manufacturing and Engineering.
• Maintain and calibrate CMM equipment, probes, and program libraries.
• Support first-article inspection and process validation for new parts.
• Document programs, revisions, and calibration records per quality management procedures.

The Team

As part of the Manufacturing organization, the Quality/Metrology team ensures precision-machined and fabricated components meet exacting engineering and dimensional standards. The team supports rapid development, prototyping, and production through advanced inspection and measurement capabilities.

The Role

Valar Atomics is looking for a CMM Programmer to develop and run coordinate measuring machine programs using MCOSMOS with Renishaw Revo 5-axis scanning heads. You will program dimensional inspection routines for precision components used in our modular nuclear reactor systems, translating engineering drawings and CAD models into efficient, repeatable measurement strategies. This role has high ownership over inspection process and data quality, working closely with machinists, engineering, and quality.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of CMM programming experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, or precision machining environment.
• Proficiency with Mitutoyo MCOSMOS software for CMM programming.
• Hands-on experience with Renishaw Revo 5-axis scanning probe heads or similar 5-axis CMM probe systems.
• Strong ability to read and interpret GD&T, engineering drawings, and CAD models.
• Solid understanding of CMM fundamentals: alignment strategy, datum structures, and probe calibration.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup manufacturing environment with evolving processes.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with machinists and engineering.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with additional metrology software (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar).
• Experience programming complex/organic surfaces or turbine/aerospace geometries.
• ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or equivalent certification.
• Experience in nuclear, aerospace, or other highly regulated quality environments.
