Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants seeks a skilled CMM Programmer to support Centrus Energy Oak Ridge, TN, performing high-accuracy CMM programming and fixture development for production components. The role requires strong GD&T knowledge and five years of hands-on CMM experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience in CMM programming and dimensional inspection.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass a federal background investigation for DOE Q security clearance if required.
  • Associate's degree in related field; additional experience can be considered in lieu of education.
  • Onsite position at Centrus Energy Oak Ridge, TN.

  • Create, modify, validate and maintain Coordinate Measuring Machine programs for production components and calibration of tooling.
  • Design and develop CMM fixtures/work holding.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
  • Work with quality engineering to perform Gauge R&R, capability studies, correlations and RCCA activity.
  • Troubleshoot CMM programs, probes, fixtures and measurement issues.
  • Establish and oversee weekly and daily maintenance of CMM instruments.
  • Track CMM performance to ensure calibration is accurate.
  • Train technicians and operators on program setup and execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The CMM Programmer is responsible for programming coordinate measuring machines ensuring the measurement system provides accurate and reliable results. This role will ensure compliance with quality requirements and ensure that manufactured products meet specified standards.

  • Design and develop CMM fixtures/work holding.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and CAD Models
  • Work with quality engineering to perform Gauge R&R, capability studies, correlations and RCCA activity.
  • Troubleshoot CMM programs, probes, fixtures and measurement issues.
  • Establish and oversee weekly and daily maintenance of CMM instruments.
  • Track CMM performance to ensure calibration is accurate.

Education and Licensure
  • Associate's degree in related field. Additional experience can be considered in lieu of education
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
  • Please note that marijuana remains a Schedule III controlled substance under Federal Law. Federal contractors must follow Federal drug-free workplace rules, which prohibit marijuana use, even if medical or recreational use is permitted under State Law.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in CMM programming and dimensional inspection.
  • Hands on CMM experience
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates.
  • Ability to execute tasks assigned with minimum supervision.
  • Strong computer software skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Preferred Qualifications and Location Details
  • Active DOE Q Clearance.
  • Experience in Aerospace, Medical or Defense Manufacturing
  • Programming and operation experience using Zeiss Calypso software and CMMs.
  • Experience programming optical CMMs (ViScan preferred)
  • Modeling experience with Creo or other software.
  • Onsite position - Centrus Energy
