Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a Quality Control Bench Inspector for a client in Portland, CT, to uphold aerospace quality standards by inspecting incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products. You will verify compliance with engineering specifications, perform dimensional inspections, document results, and apply GD&T to evaluate part conformity.

You will collaborate with production and quality teams to address issues and maintain top quality.

Qualifications

• 2–8 years of inspection experience in aerospace or similar manufacturing
• Strong GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and dimensional inspection knowledge
• Ability to read and interpret operation sheets, POs, specs, and certifications
• Experience using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions
• Good shop math, attention to detail, and strong communication

Responsibilities

• Inspect in-process and finished products using visual and dimensional methods to meet specs
• Review POs, operation sheets, blueprints, and certifications for compliance
• Conduct complex dimensional layouts using drawings and sheets
• Apply GD&T to assess part conformity and maintain records
• Complete inspection method sheets and document results accurately
• Verify certifications against part specs and perform FAIs if required
• Identify nonconforming items and notify relevant personnel, collaborating with teams

This position maintains quality standards by inspecting incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products. The inspector will verify compliance with engineering specifications, perform dimensional inspections, and accurately document inspection results.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect in-process and finished products through visual examinations and dimensional measurements to confirm compliance with specifications.
• Review purchase orders, operation sheets, blueprints, special process certifications, and other specifications to verify that parts and materials meet requirements.
• Perform complex dimensional layout inspections using operation sheets and engineering drawings.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to evaluate part conformity.
• Complete Inspection Method Sheets and maintain accurate inspection records.
• Verify special process certifications against applicable part specifications.
• Perform first-piece inspections and First Article Inspections (FAIs).
• Identify and document nonconforming materials or components and communicate findings to the appropriate personnel.
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to address inspection issues and maintain product quality.

Required Qualifications

• 2–8 years of inspection experience in aerospace or a similar manufacturing industry.
• Strong working knowledge of GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and dimensional inspection.
