Job summary

Hutchinson seeks a quality engineering professional to perform metrology tasks, prepare measurements for production parts, and assist in PPAP processes for customer approvals. The role requires problem-solving across engineering and supplier interactions in a manufacturing environment.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology, 2 years of related experience, and a strong grasp of geometric tolerances, SPC, and gage control procedures.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in mechanical engineering technology or equivalent; and two years related experience in theory and application of complex layout and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate with multiple teams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, measure, organize, record and report on projects being measured.
  • Assist in PPAP preparation for customer approval.
  • Assist Product Engineering in evaluation of prototype metals and molded parts.
  • Communicate with suppliers on dimensional characteristics with trends of instability.
  • Support tool room in measurements of molds or cavities reworked or modified.
  • Support production by measuring and preparing ongoing capability studies on current production parts.
  • Measure and prepare written reports on all new samples from suppliers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Activities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare, measure, organize, record and report on projects being measured.
  • Assist in preparing PPAP for customer approval.

Must have good interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with Quality, Continuous Process Improvement, Product engineering, and other plant and office personnel. Must have good computer skills with a working knowledge of geometric tolerances, SPC, SAE handbook usage, gage control programs, and quality control procedure.Must understand how to prepare, measure, organize, record and report on projects being measured in a manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree in mechanical engineering technology or equivalent; and two years related experience in theory and application of complex layout and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REASONING ABILITY:

Valid Driver’s License and possible Hi-lo License
