Job summary

Barnes Aerospace is hiring a First Shift CMM Inspector to join our manufacturing team. You will perform first piece inspections, interpret blueprints, and verify dimensions using CMMs and precision tools. The role requires accuracy, strong math skills, and thorough record keeping in a fast-paced environment.

Shift is 1st shift, Mon-Fri, 7:00am to 3:30pm, with overtime as needed. A high school diploma is required with experience in CMMs and quality control practices.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct first piece inspections as required.
• Plan and perform inspections for dimensions and relationships on varied parts and gauges.
• Verify inspection sheets meet blueprint requirements.
• Operate CMMs and supporting measurement tools (micrometers, verniers, etc.).
• Return parts to operators with proper gauging and documentation.
• Complete paperwork and maintain inspection records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

1 st Shift (Mon-Fri: 7:00am - 3:30pm)

Your Expertise:

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience operating CMMs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. PCDMIS experience preferred.
• Ability to interpret customer specifications, blueprints, and operation sheets.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed, have strong math and communication skills and be able to keep accurate records.
• Knowledge and use of precision measuring equipment and must perform objectives using quality tools and methods and maintain inspection files.
• Should exhibit the highest standards of ethical conduct and strive to increase the quality of the product.

• Conduct first piece inspections as required.
• Plan and perform inspections to check dimensions and dimensional relationships on a variety of complicated first piece run part, gauges, tools and fixtures.
• Verify correct operation sheet is being used and confirm that it meets blueprint requirements.
• Use CMM's optical comparators, sine plates, indicators, micrometers, V-Blocks, verniers, parallels, height stands, and cadillacs, etc.
• Return part to operator and ensure proper gauging and inspection equipment.
• Complete paperwork and documentation of dimensions.
• Perform all other similar and/or related duties as required and /or directed
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
