Job description

Position Summary

Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies, or mechanical units and subassemblies. Uses various measuring devices. Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems. Works from blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • The ability to write complex CMM programs in accordance with customer requirements and utilize CMM equipment to effectively measure and report out dimensions.
  • Know and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Know, understand, and follow department policies and procedures.
  • Measures parts and materials for conformance to specifications, using micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Operates CMS (Coordinate Measuring System) such as a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) to dimensionally inspect product.
  • Reads and interprets aerospace manufacturing drawings/models – including tolerances, customer specification and technical requirements.
  • CMM inspect purchased and internal manufactured parts for conformance to purchase order, drawing/model and specification requirement.
  • Apply GD&T in accordance with ANSI Y14.5 with tolerance up to .xxx places.
  • Performs visual, dimensional, mechanical, and optical inspections per work instructions.
  • CMM works from engineering drawings, internal and external specifications, quality assurance standards, test procedures and verbal instructions to determine acceptance of product.
  • Documents product acceptance/rejection on manufacturing order, processes any necessary rejection documentation and performs various ERP system functions.
  • Report to work on time, follow instructions from supervisor or management, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.
  • Other various duties as needed or as assigned.
Position Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Relevant experience in quality assurance (3-5 years preferred).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Computer Skills
  • Ability to write both basic and complex CMM programs.
  • Experience with Measure Max, PC DIMIS, or other CMM programming software is a plus.
  • Experience with Model based software like Enovia is a plus.
  • General knowledge of Verisurf and CATIA.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and write the English language.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Other Skills
  • Documented training in Blueprint reading, Precision measurements and Applied math.
  • On the Job experience with reading aerospace blueprints and using precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of Aerospace products & production/assembly processes.
  • Proficient with researching, interpreting, and applying customer specifications & work instructions or procedures.
  • General knowledge of Verisurf and CATIA.
Physical and Environmental Demands

Manufacturing environment may be exposed to noise levels, dust, grime and heat. Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
