Job summary

Xyant Technology, established in 1995, is a premier federal systems integrator that provides technical and business solutions in information technology, systems engineering, scientific support and management consulting. The team is seeking a CMM inspector on a 9-month contract (40 hours per week) with standard Mon-Fri scheduling and potential overtime as needed.

The role requires accurate interpretation of drawings and METrology standards, and will involve training operators on measurement

Qualifications

• 1 to 2 years experience with CMM programming.
• Nice to have Aerospace, defense, automotive, or precision machining background.
• Experience with FAIRs, PPAPs, and AS9100/ISO 9001 standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality documentation systems.
• Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent or Relevant Experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate CMM equipment to perform first-article, in-process, and final inspections.
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, models, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Create, modify, and troubleshoot CMM programs (e.g., Calypso)
• Perform dimensional analysis using micrometers, calipers, height gages, optical comparators, and other precision instruments.
• Document inspection results and generate reports for quality records, FAIRs, and customer submissions.
• Identify nonconformances and communicate findings to engineering, production, and quality teams.
• Support root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain calibration of inspection tools and follow all standard work, safety procedures, and quality system requirements.
• Assist with training operators and inspectors on print reading and measurement techniques.
