Job summary

Trove Brands is seeking a curious, creative CMF Designer to translate trends into innovative finishes for drinkware and related products. This in-office role partners with Brand, Design, Engineering, and Manufacturing to explore materials, coatings, and textures, and to develop technically feasible CMF solutions.

The candidate will develop finish concepts, collaborate with suppliers, and ensure finishes meet performance and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in CMF, industrial/product design, materials, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Strong curiosity about materials, finishes, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to translate inspiration into practical product opportunities.
• Hands-on mindset with physical samples, prototypes, testing, and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and communication.
• Collaborative across creative, technical, supplier, and manufacturing teams.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and CAD tools (KeyShot, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Exposure to finish/material testing for adhesion, durability, etc.
• Comfort maintaining finish specs, test results, approvals, supplier info, regulatory records.
• Hands-on development with samples, supplier submissions, and manufacturing standards.
• Portfolio required demonstrating CMF, design, and material/finish development.

Responsibilities

• Research CMF, consumer, lifestyle, and manufacturing trends and translate into finish opportunities.
• Explore materials, coatings, textures, and application processes beyond drinkware.
• Develop finish concepts, samples, and technical targets for products.
• Identify supplier technologies and manufacturing capabilities for new experiences.
• Collaborate with Brand and Design teams to translate ideas into CMF solutions.
• Develop finishes for existing and future product platforms, with clear technical targets.
• Work with factories and suppliers to develop, sample, refine, and manufacture finishes.
• Bridge creative intent and manufacturing reality, troubleshooting with teams.
• Evaluate paints, coatings, plastics, materials, and processes for performance.
• Coordinate and conduct testing for durability, adhesion, chemical resistance, wear, etc.
• Document testing results, learnings, and specs.
• Ensure finishes meet performance, quality, regulatory, and compliance before production.
• Create and maintain a CMF finish database and library of finishes, specs, test results, and regulatory docs.
