Job summary

Castelion seeks a Materials & Process Engineer, Densification, to support R&D and scale-up of CMC fabrication and densification. The role involves hands-on composite processing, QA data management, and process optimization on a pilot line for high-performance aerospace components.

You will characterize materials, drive improvements in repeatability, and contribute to documentation and scale-up activities. Weekend work may be required at times, with a focus on hands-on engineering execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
• Familiarity with composite processing and/or materials characterization techniques.
• Must be willing to work weekends when necessary.
• Ability to work independently in a hands-on engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Support composite layup, forming, and densification operations for CMC components.
• Execute compression molding, curing, resin infiltration, and high-temperature pyrolysis processes.
• Own process QA data collection, analysis, and database management.
• Characterize finished C/SiC materials to assess performance and guide process development.
• Develop and optimize fabrication and densification parameters to improve material quality and process repeatability.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standardized operating procedures.
• Support installation, maintenance, and scale-up of pilot-line manufacturing hardware.
