Job summary

Broadlawns Medical Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support clinic operations under the Clinic Manager. The role involves direct patient-care tasks for diverse age groups, with some laboratory and office duties as needed.

The ideal candidate has CMA education and national certification, plus demonstrated data entry accuracy and respect for patient confidentiality. This on-site position observes a typical 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM shift and offers strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of CMA education program with national certification as required within 6 months of hire.
• Current CMA certification with NCCT/ARMA/AAMA/CCMA or equivalent per Broadlawns requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient-care tasks for patients of all ages under Clinic Manager supervision.
• Assist with laboratory and office duties as needed.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.

Certified Medical Assistant

Under the direct supervision of the Clinic Manager performs selected patient-care tasks for patients of all ages, gender, cultures, and backgrounds in the clinic setting. In addition, laboratory and office duties are performed as needed. This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Performance Standards

• 1. Demonstrates and supports service excellence according to BMC Employee Expectations for excellence at all times.
• 2. Demonstrates ability to consistently meet manager requests, committee responsibilities, and Performance Improvement data collection as outlined by supervisor.
• 3. Demonstrates commitment to career growth and competence. This will be demonstrated by the completion and documentation of all competencies, clinic specific skills, HealthStream, annual in-services, and corporate compliance.
• 4. Demonstrates consistent ability to meet Personal Performance Summary Standards.
• 5. Attends unit/ staff meetings.
• 6. Accurate data entry.
• 7. Demonstrates compliance with patient confidentiality.
• 8. Demonstrates competence in specific computer applications.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1. Successful completion of medical assistant education with a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program and certification with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NRCMA) within 6 months of hire. or Current CMA certification with the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or National Healthcareer Association (CCMA) and completion of a medical assistant education program approved by Broadlawns Medical Center. a. Staff continuously employed in a CMA position with Broadlawns Medical Center as of September 1, 2025, will maintain qualifications as listed at the time of hire.
• 2. Ability to satisfactorily complete Broadlawns Medical Center Pharmacology requirements prior to providing care independently.
• 3. Ability to successfully pass Basic Life Support Certification (Health Care Provider), if not already current with certification, prior to providing care independently.
