Job summary

Wilmington Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join the Infusions team at Silver Stream on a PRN basis in Wilmington, NC. The role provides clinical support under Physician or RN guidance, prepares patients, assists with examinations, administers injections, maintains records in the EMR, and supports front office tasks.

• Associates Degree in Medical Assisting or CMA program accreditation.
• BLS/CPR Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for and assists with examinations.
• Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, and provides information to patient per protocol.
• Collects patient data and maintains vital statistics in EMR.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments and maintains supplies.
• Conducts specified laboratory tests.
• Acts as receptionist and handles front-office tasks and prescriptions when needed.
• Coordinate with managed care for prior authorizations and scheduling.
• Manage patient communications and triage questions.

Purpose:

Provides care for and treats patients in medical office, as directed by Physician, Advanced Clinical Provider, Registered Nurse or supervising department manager in addition to providing front office support in clinical areas as needed

• Prepares patient for and assists with examinations
• Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, provides accurate and consistent information to the patient using an established protocol, interprets Physician's instructions to patients, assists with emergencies and minor procedures, and performs related tasks as directed
• Collects patient data and maintains records of vital statistics and physiological/biological information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies and medications
• Conducts specified laboratory tests
• Acts as receptionist, performs secretarial duties, may communicate with insurance companies, and calling in/faxing prescriptions
• Communicates with managed care for prior authorizations. Schedules procedures on campus and off site
• Responsible to respond to/triage patient phone calls and messages
• Educates patients and instructs on any medications, treatment plans, etc.

Other Duties:

• All other duties as assigned by Department Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Active CMA or RMA Certification from accredited association.
• Successfully completed and passed an accredited Associates Degree program in Medical Assisting or an accredited CMA program.
• BLS/CPR Certification.

Preferred:

• One year clinical experience
