Job summary

OU Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for the Cardiology, Orthopedics, General Surgery and Neurosurgery clinics in the Edmond Multispecialty department. The role may be filled as CMA I or CMA II depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab work, referrals, and patient education under supervision, while maintaining safety standards and efficient clinic flow.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• CMA certifications are required upon hire from listed bodies (AMT, AAMA, NCCT, etc.).
• 0-3 years of experience for CMA I; 3-5 years for CMA II.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals and patient messages as directed.
• Monitor and document patient status and assist with assessments.
• Manage large call volume with professional telephone etiquette.
• Stock exam rooms, take inventory and order supplies.
• Assist with procedures and maintain sterile field as needed.
• Transmits prescription refills and coordinates hospital admissions and patient care services.
