Job description

This position will work 36 hrs per week.

Qualifications:

  • Current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, or graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing (Required)
  • 160 hours of hands-on patient care (Required)
  • Current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant (Preferred)
  • Current clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (Preferred)
  • Current experience as an Emergency Medical Technician or Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (Preferred)

Responsibilities:

  • Room patients, perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds.
  • Coordinate provider schedules and appointments, enter orders, and prepare patient charts.
  • Instruct patients and families as directed within scope of licensure or certification.
  • Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in-office procedures; prepare and administer medications/immunizations.
  • Maintain exam rooms and equipment within infection control standards; ensure adequate medical supplies.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nurse or medical assistant to provide patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors to foster work and patient relationships.
  • Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing demands.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems, computers, phones, and office equipment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified as a Medical Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, or Registered Medical Assistant in WI through an approved accreditor (Required)
  • Valid Practical Nursing license in WI (Required)
  • Licensed EMT or AEMT (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
