Job summary

The CHS Outpatient Clinic Float Team at MUHA seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support multiple outpatient clinics across the ambulatory network, traveling throughout the Tri-County region (Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley). This role offers variety, flexibility, and growth opportunities in patient care.

Under RN supervision and with direction from the Outpatient Clinic Manager, CMAs perform multi-skilled tasks to uphold a patient-centered approach and high-quality care across sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
• AMT/AAMA/NHA/MA1/NAHP/NCCT certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to care.
• Report to Outpatient Clinic Manager and work under RN supervision.
• Support travel across the Tri-County ambulatory network to assist clinics as needed.

This position requires reliable transportation for traveling throughout the Tri-County region: Charleston, Dorchester, and Berkeley.

Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

CMA Minimum Training and Education

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.

CMA Required Licensure and/or Certifications (One Required)

• American Medical Technologist (AMT)
• American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
• National Health career Association (NHA)
• MedCA as a Certified Clinical & Administrative Medical Assistant (MA1)

• National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

Additional Requirements

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
