The Medication Assistant (MA) serves as a caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. The MA delivers age‑appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident per plan of care. Responsibilities include assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, recording vital signs, and providing psycho‑social support. The MA may assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques and equipment, and provides range of motion and passive exercises. They complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience, and may assist residents with meals and snacks, providing water and supplements as appropriate. The MA administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse within state regulations, documents outcomes related to care, monitors and records vital signs, and communicates any changes to the charge nurse. Additional duties include collecting non‑invasive body fluid specimens, housekeeping and laundry services to support resident living areas, and supporting resident participation in wellness and recreational programs.
