Certified Medication Aide (nights and/or weekends)

Provides administering of medications to residents as ordered by the attending physician, under the direction of the attending physician, the nurse supervisor or charge nurse, and the Director of Nursing Services. The administration of medications shall be in accordance with established nursing standards, the policies, procedures, and practices of this facility, and the requirements of this state. Provides direct care to residents following the individualized care plan.

Essential Duties
  1. Exercises independent judgment and discretion in the performance of personnel tasks, maintaining a clean, safe environment in the community.
  2. Administers or assists with self-administration of medication and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare provider, observing resident responses and notifying supervisors of any issues. Adheres to infection control policies.
  3. Documents daily in resident records according to state regulations, including forms, charts, and reports, and reports any health or emotional changes promptly.
  4. Follows procedures for residents' self-administration of medications, monitoring and documenting all aspects.
  5. Receives report on all residents.
  6. Provides direct resident care.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensed Certified Medication Aide in Kansas, with completed training and examinations.
  • Preferred: prior experience in AL or SNU, at least 1 year as a medication aide.
Specific Requirements
  • Ability to make independent decisions.
  • Ability to interact tactfully with personnel, residents, families, visitors, and agencies.
  • Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Provide certification documentation upon application.
