Job summary

Canyon Fuel Company, LLC is seeking a seasoned underground mining supervisor to plan, direct, and optimize continuous miner (CM) section operations at the Sufco Mine. You will lead equipment maintenance, training, and safety compliance while coordinating with maintenance and outby crews to maximize uptime.

Ideal candidates bring extensive CM/longwall experience, strong leadership, and proficiency in Excel/Word, with a focus on cost efficiency and productivity improvements within a demanding

Qualifications

• Demonstrated successful underground coal mining supervisory experience.
• Ten years underground mining experience with diverse CM/longwall background.
• Understanding of longwall and continuous mining methods.
• Strong planning, organizational, and leadership abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Utah Mine Foreman and MSHA Electrical certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and monitors CM section activities including equipment rebuilds and PM services.
• Directs maintenance, coordinates with outby crews and mine management.
• Drives operating efficiency and cost improvements for CM activities.
• Leads meetings, training, and sets goals with departments.
• Recommends CM equipment modifications and handles contracts, warranties, pricing.
• Approves CM material orders and minimizes downtime with maintenance.
• Implements safety policies for an injury-free work environment.
• Develops cost reduction and productivity improvement programs.
• Develops predictive and preventative maintenance programs for CM equipment.

Job description

Job location: Canyon Fuel Company, LLC - Sufco Mine

Responsibilities Include

• Plans, directs and monitors all activities for continuous miner sections including equipment rebuild, replacement, and PM Service of all section equipment. Coordinates support of CM sections, maintenance and outby crews with appropriate mine management.
• Responsible for attaining optimum level of operating and cost efficiency for CM Section activities. Recommends and implements improvements in equipment and maintenance methods.
• Conducts meetings and organizes training to improve overall CM Equipment performance. Sets goals, priorities, and standards through communication and cooperation with all departments.
• Responsible for recommending CM Section equipment selection/modifications. Will play an active role in contracts, equipment specifications, warranties and price negotiations.
• Approves CM Section material and supply orders to an authorized approval level.
• Coordinate CM Section maintenance with the maintenance department and shift coordinators to minimize down time.
• Implements all safety policies and procedures related to an injury free work environment.
• Develops, implements, and monitors cost reduction plans and productivity improvements.
• Develop and implement the predictive and preventative maintenance programs for CM Section equipment.

Preferred Education & Experience

• Demonstrated successful underground coal mining supervisory experience
• Ten years underground mining experience with a diverse background in longwall, CM operations and general mine work
• B.S. Degree in mining, mechanical, or electrical engineering is desirable
• Must have a comprehensive understanding of both longwall and continuous mining methods
• Good planning and organizational skills
• Strong leadership ability
• Current Utah Mine Foreman Certification
• MSHA Electrical Certification
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent communications (oral and written) skills
• Computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are required
