Job summary

Canyon Fuel Company seeks an experienced underground mining supervisor for Fossil Rock Mine. You will oversee continuous miner maintenance, production efficiency, and safety programs on a site with active CM operations.

The role requires 10+ years underground mining experience, strong leadership, and Utah Foreman certification. Proficiency in Excel/Word and excellent communication are essential for coordinating across departments.

Qualifications

• Successful underground coal mining supervisory experience.
• Ten years underground mining experience with a diverse background in CM operations and general mine work.
• Comprehensive understanding of continuous mining methods.
• Good planning and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership ability.
• Current Utah Mine Foreman Certification.
• MSHA Electrical Certification preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communications (oral and written) skills.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs and monitors all activity for continuous miner maintenance and coordinates maintenance with outby crews.
• Attains optimum operating and cost efficiency for CM production activities.
• Recommends and implements improvements in equipment and production methods.
• Conducts meetings and training to improve continuous miner performance.
• Sets goals, priorities, and standards through communication with all departments.
• Recommends CM equipment selection/modifications and participates in contracts, specs, warranties, and price negotiations.
• Approves CM material and supply orders to approved levels.
• Implements all safety policies and procedures for an injury-free work environment.
• Develops cost reduction plans and productivity improvements.

Job description

Job Location: Canyon Fuel Company – Fossil Rock Mine

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Plans, directs and monitors all activity for continuous miner maintenance including setup, production, and recovery. Coordinates support of Continuous Miner maintenance and outby crews with appropriate mine management.
• Responsible for attaining optimum level of operating and cost efficiency for C.M. production activities.
• Recommends and implements improvements in equipment and production methods.
• Conducts meetings and organizes training to improve overall continuous miner performance.
• Sets goals, priorities, and standards through communication and cooperation with all departments.
• Responsible for recommending Continuous Miner equipment selection/modifications. Will play an active role in contracts, equipment specifications, warranties and price negotiations.
• Approves C.M. material and supply orders to an authorized approval level.
• Implements all safety policies and procedures related to an injury free work environment.
• Develops, implements, and monitors cost reduction plans and productivity improvements.

PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrated successful underground coal mining supervisory experience
• Ten years underground mining experience with a diverse background in, CM operations and general mine work
• Must have a comprehensive understanding of continuous mining methods
• Good planning and organizational Skills
• Strong leadership ability
