The position: We are seeking to fill a Clutter Support Assistant position. Under general supervision, the Clutter Support Assistant supports SHA residents experiencing high needs to resolve clutter, pests, and unsanitary conditions. Assist with sorting, decluttering, and removal of excess items. Collaborate with property management staff and residents to prepare for pest control, inspections, and other services, ensuring safety and health standards are met. The ideal candidate has:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least two years of experience in human services, hoarding/cleaning services, or relevant fields
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license with an insurable driving record

What will you do?

  • Use respectful language and trauma-informed principles to educate residents on safety and health standards for housing compliance and independent living.
  • Conduct brief assessments to determine conditions and support needed.
  • Partner with residents to develop action plans for decluttering and pest control preparation.
  • Perform hands-on decluttering and cleaning in residents’ units.
  • Remove excess items and dispose of them appropriately.
  • Perform light cleaning tasks, such as surface cleaning and trash disposal.
  • Coordinate with social service agencies and SHA staff to assist residents in passing inspections.
  • Maintain documentation of interactions and plans with residents.
