Job summary

Sacred Heart University is seeking a part-time Head Coach for its Club Powerlifting team. You will recruit and retain players, plan practices, and provide instructional coaching while handling administrative duties from September 1 through May 15 each academic year.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities, and collaboration with Club Sports staff and Athletic Training for player safety and development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience at the high school, prep, junior, or collegiate level.
• Must maintain coaching certification or be willing to acquire certification.
• CPR/First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

• Recruit prospective students who will meet University admission standards.
• Handle league-required paperwork and understand rules.
• Foster relationships with other coaches and staff.
• Retain all team members and support their transition into college.
• Develop a recruitment plan beyond the upcoming season.
• Create and implement weekly practice plans and provide high‑end instruction.
• Coordinate game-day responsibilities including planning, transport, and rosters.
• Work with Athletic Training staff on player safety and development.

Position Summary

The Sacred Heart University Department of Club Sports and Recreation is seeking a Head Coach for its Club Powerlifting team. The Head Coach will be responsible for the recruitment and retention of players, practice preparation, instructional coaching, and other administrative duties for the team. This part-time position will run from September 1 through May 15 of each academic year.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for the recruitment of prospective students who will meet University admission standards.
• Responsible for all league-required paperwork, as well as understanding all rules associated.
• Foster and enhance relationships with other coaches.
• Responsible for the retention of all team members, particularly first-year students, and ensuring their transition into college is seamless.
• Work with the Club Sports staff to develop a cohesive program and highlight it via social media and the Club Sports website.
• Develop a recruitment plan beyond the upcoming season.
• Create and implement a weekly practice plan to ensure all team members are prepared for competition.
• The coach shoulddemonstratestrong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Prepare, plan, and coordinate practice schedules each week and provide proper and high-end instruction to student-athletes.
• Work with the Athletic Training staff on player safety and development.
• Oversee all game day responsibilities, including game planning, transportation, and game roster.
• Work closely with the Club Sports and Recreationdepartmenton the preparation of the season, schedule, and recruitment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Attributes

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience at the high school, prep, junior, or collegiate level.
• Possess experience working with diverse staff, including college-age students.
• Must maintain coaching certification or be willing to acquire certification.
• CPR/First Aid Certification

Unusual Working Conditions

Night and weekend availability is required.
