Job summary

Equinox in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the club's maintenance staff and ensure cleanliness and safety standards across the facility. You will supervise daily operations, implement policies, and coordinate with management to support a premier member experience.

The role requires bilingual English/Spanish capabilities, hands-on maintenance knowledge, and strong leadership to develop the team, manage inventory, and uphold service excellence at peak hours.

Qualifications

• Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Experience in a commercial or fitness setting.
• Proven ability to hire, direct, and train staff.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and exercise equipment maintenance.
• Experience with maintenance tools and janitorial products.
• CPR and First Aid certification current.
• Strong financial management skills.
• Ability to adapt, learn new techniques, and solve problems.
• Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and urgency in work.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to and apply Equinox policies and procedures.
• Hire, train, supervise, coach and evaluate maintenance staff.
• Develop employees with potential Maintenance Supervisor capabilities.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations.
• Perform 30-, 60-, and 90-day reviews for new hires.
• Attend monthly facility reviews with MOD.
• Oversee maintenance inventory and locker-room supplies.
• Maintain high visibility during peak club hours.
• Ensure high level of customer service.
• Stay current on competitors' facilities and equipment.
• Participate in annual maintenance budget development.
