Job summary

FieldLevel, Inc. seeks volleyball coaches for SWI in Council Bluffs, IA. Coaches will attend November tryouts at the Iowa West Field House and assist with team placement, practice planning, and tournament logistics.

Season runs December to early April with one weekly 7–9 PM practice, at least six tournaments starting in January, and a regional in Omaha. Local travel may occur, with reimbursements for travel and regional fees; last season's pay was about $1,000.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching youth volleyball is beneficial.
• Ability to organize practices and coordinate tournaments.

Responsibilities

• Attend tryouts on November 4–5 (6–9 PM) at the Iowa West Field House and help place players on teams.
• Lead practices once per week (7–9 PM) at the Iowa West Field House.
• Support scheduling, manage travel reimbursements, and assist with regional membership fees.

Job description

Season: December through early April. Tryouts: November 4 and 5, from 6–9 PM at the Iowa West Field House. We’d love for all coaches to attend both dates if at all possible.

• Practices: One night a week, 7–9 PM at the Iowa West Field House.
• Tournaments: Minimum of 6 tournaments beginning in January (approximately 2 tourneys a month).
• Regionals: April 10 in Omaha.
• Travel: Most tournaments are local, but travel may be an option depending on the team and coach’s discretion.
• Coach support: we provide team apparel, handle scheduling, and reimburses travel expenses and regional membership fees.
• Compensation: Coaches are paid at the end of the season, with compensation based on the total number of teams in the club. Last season, coaches earned approximately $1,000.

• 15U–18U: Wednesdays
• 11U–14U: Thursdays

One thing that makes SWI a little different from other clubs is that we really encourage multisport athletes. We intentionally practice just one night a week and keep the majority of our tournaments local so athletes can balance club volleyball with other sports and activities. We still want to build competitive teams that play at a high level, continue to develop, and represent SWI well!

As of right now, I don’t have team assignments figured out for the upcoming season. I do my best to work with our coaches through the tryout process and make sure everyone is placed at the right age/level and with a team that sets everyone up for success.
