Job description

Position: CLT Lead

Division: Manufacturing

Department: CLT – Operations

FLSA Classification: Hourly, nonexempt

Reporting Manager: CLT Supervisor


Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.


Expected Work Hours:

Employees within this position must work a minimum of thirty (30) hours weekly to maintain full-time status for certain benefit eligibility requirements. The expectations of the position will require an average of forty (40) hours weekly with overtime hours as requested or required; individuals must be flexible to work varying hours as necessary.


Travel Requirements:

Overnight travel is not required.


Position Summary:

The CLT Lead plays a key role in the manufacturing and production process at the company. This position provides guidance, training, and operational support to CLT line operators while ensuring production goals are met efficiently and safely. The Lead is responsible for monitoring workflow, assisting with troubleshooting, and promoting adherence to safety protocols.


Essential Functions:

  1. Assist in guiding and training employees on all aspects of CLT Line operations.
  2. Support onboarding and training of new employees, including safety, operational procedures, and company policies.
  3. Encourage and mentor team members to improve skills and performance.
  4. Assist in monitoring employee adherence to safety guidelines and company policies.
  5. Provide input on workflow improvements to enhance production efficiency.
  6. Help coordinate daily tasks and delegate work across various positions on the line.
  7. Perform routine quality checks and report any discrepancies.
  8. Assist in troubleshooting equipment and operational issues.
  9. Work closely with leadership to track production performance and suggest process improvements.
  10. Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
  2. At least three (3) years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred.
  3. Previous experience in a leadership or mentorship role preferred.
  4. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  5. Forklift experience preferred.
  6. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Work Environment:

The characteristics described below are representative of those an employee will encounter within this position.

  1. Regularly exposed to hand tools and other machines with risk of electrical shock and/or sparks that may cause burns, cuts, abrasions or other injury that may occur resulting from processes involving torching, cutting, and/or grinding.
  2. Regularly exposed to fumes, dust, high noise levels, and vibrations.
  3. Occasional exposure to heights and to changing weather and ground and/or floor conditions.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands for this position are considered as medium physical work.

  1. Up to 33% of the time, transport from floor to waist and push/pull up to 35 pounds distances of up to 10 feet.
  2. Up to 33% use fine motor skills with dexterity and firm grip to operate hand and power tools and machinery.
  3. Up to 33% ascend or descend a ladder or work atop a platform.
  4. Up to 66% traverse the production floor, outside as needed, position self to operate tools and machinery, maintain stationary position in the performance of work.
  5. Up to 100% communicate information to teammates in a manner that is understandable, exchange accurate information, and interpret the information communicated. Recognize and assess the details as outlined in blueprint documents, specifications reports, and other documents including work instructions and policies that may be required.
