Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Mechanic 3 – Avionics to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Aircraft Solutions Business Unit at MCAS Beaufort. Your mission will be to support O-Level maintenance on the F-35.

Your duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Working various shifts as directed by the Aircraft Maintenance Manager.
  • Departing on short notice for temporary duty assignments.
  • Performing maintenance, repair, launch, and recovery activities on F-35 aircraft.
  • Ensuring aircraft are in exceptional mechanical condition and safe for flight by performing maintenance, inspections, and servicing on all aircraft systems per guidelines.
  • Assisting with field-level modifications and TCTD maintenance actions.
  • Providing on-the-job training for team members and partner maintenance personnel.
  • Maintaining and updating aircraft records within the CMMS of ALIS.
  • Keeping production staff updated on aircraft status.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Aircraft Maintenance Manager.
  • Performing required Airframe and Power Plant General (APG) / Avionics tasks as part of CLS.
  • Obtaining special certifications as required (e.g., confined space, borescope).
  • Supporting other CLS locations and deployments as needed.
  • Working a flexible schedule, including extended shifts, holidays, weekends, and on-call support.

Maintenance Tasks Include:

  • Configuring aircraft for modifications, hardware removal/installation, system checkouts, and egress system maintenance.

Technical Requirements Include:

  • Fault isolation, troubleshooting, and repair of system failures.
  • Interpreting wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance manuals.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED and at least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain Collateral Duty Inspector Qualification within 18 months.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a flightline driver’s competency card.
  • Ability to interpret technical data and drawings.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance.
  • Physical ability to perform strenuous work and work in confined spaces.
  • Pass a physical and medical/respiratory evaluation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • US Navy or Marine Corps CDI, Air Force 5 or 7 Level, or A&P Certification.
  • Six or more years of F-22 or F-35 avionics and/or crew chief experience.
  • Experience with F-35 systems and operations.
  • Additional skills in engine certification, structural repairs, and low observable systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, especially in a military customer service context.

Salary Range: $55,800 - $93,000. Compensation factors include experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Benefits include health insurance, life/disability insurance, savings plans, paid holidays, and PTO. The application period is approximately 20 days but may vary.
