Job summary

USDTL in Des Plaines, IL seeks an experienced Interface Engineer to lead healthcare integrations across LIMS, EHRs, and customer systems using the Cloverleaf suite.

You will design, implement, test, and maintain HL7, XML/JSON APIs, and data exchanges, mentor junior staff, and ensure HIPAA compliance while supporting production interfaces and on-call duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 10 years of healthcare integration experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands‑on experience with Infor Cloverleaf Integration Suite development, administration, and support.
  • Proven experience implementing, supporting, and optimizing enterprise‑scale integration environments.
  • Demonstrated success supporting multiple concurrent healthcare interfaces in complex production environments.
  • Experience working directly with healthcare organizations, hospitals, physician practices, reference laboratories, and other clinical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead integration projects through the full project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing production support.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 v2.x, APIs, XML, JSON, and healthcare data exchange methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and maintain healthcare and laboratory interfaces using the Infor Cloverleaf Integration Suite.
  • Develop and support integrations using HL7 v2.x, XML, JSON, CSV, APIs, and flat-file data exchange formats.
  • Configure and maintain Cloverleaf routes, processes, TPSs, Xlates, Tcl scripts, and monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot interface failures, message processing issues, connectivity problems, and data integrity concerns.
  • Perform interface analysis, requirements gathering, and technical design for new client and partner integrations.
  • Design and implement bidirectional interfaces between LIMS, EHR, CRM, billing, reporting, and laboratory systems.
  • Develop automated monitoring, alerting, and reporting solutions to proactively identify and resolve interface issues.
  • Support migration and upgrade projects involving Cloverleaf infrastructure and related integration platforms.
  • Create and maintain interface specifications, mapping documents, testing plans, validation records, and support procedures.
  • Participate in interface validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), change management, and production deployments.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to onboard new clients, hospitals, physician groups, reference laboratories, and business partners.
  • Ensure integrations comply with HIPAA, CLIA, CAP, and other applicable healthcare regulations and industry standards.
  • Support and maintain Linux- and Windows-based Cloverleaf environments.
  • Participate in on-call support and incident response activities for critical production interfaces.
  • Assist with disaster recovery planning, testing, and business continuity initiatives for integration systems.
  • Mentor junior team members and promote interface development standards, best practices, and documentation quality.

Job description

USDTL is seeking an experienced Interface Engineer with deep expertise in the Infor Cloverleaf Integration Suite to design, develop, implement, and maintain healthcare and laboratory data integrations across internal and external systems. This role will serve as the technical lead for HL7, API, and data exchange initiatives, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable interfaces between Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Electronic Health Records (EHRs), customer systems, laboratory instruments, Salesforce, and other business applications.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 10 years of healthcare interface development experience, including extensive hands-on experience with the Cloverleaf Integration Suite, HL7 messaging, system integrations, and interface lifecycle management. This individual will collaborate closely with laboratory operations, client services, quality assurance, software vendors, and IT leadership to support mission-critical integrations that enable efficient laboratory operations, seamless client connectivity, and the secure exchange of healthcare data.

Key Responsibilities
