Job summary

Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California seeks a Cloud Systems Software Engineer I to develop data systems for flight missions. You will work on data-intensive pipelines, store and process large datasets, and architect cloud-enabled solutions using open-source tools and AWS services.

You will join the Interactive Tools and Pipeline Automation Group to support NASA missions, collaborating across teams to deliver reliable, scalable software for space data processing and mission

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/DS/Math or related field with relevant work experience.
• Experience with software development lifecycle, requirements, verification/validation, and configuration management.
• Experience with agile frameworks, sprint lifecycles, code reviews, CI/CD and tool stacks (GitHub/GitLab, JIRA).
• Experience in scientific application programming utilizing Python.
• Experience with Jenkins and Docker.
• Experience with Linux, Docker, messaging protocols, REST interfaces.
• Experience with IAC concepts (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Experience with AWS cloud services and data storage; familiarity with EC2, S3, Lambda, SNS/SQS, and autoscaling.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new capabilities with Cog-Es and leads, fix bugs, and document systems.
• Develop data processing workflows and software related to data products.
• Design, develop, integrate, and test software in line with interface and requirements docs.
• Develop cloud-based software using open-source tools (Elasticsearch, Terraform, Apache HTTP Server, Python Flask, AWS CLI).
• Create new tools and services and contribute to designs based on use cases.
