Job summary

ViaTrie LLC is seeking a Lead Cloud Solution Engineer for GAO Innovation Lab projects. The role focuses on building cloud architectures, cost estimates, and enterprise IT solutions that span on-prem and cloud environments within AWS, emphasizing DevSecOps and modular designs.

Remote work is available for U.S. citizens only, with core hours 8 AM–5 PM ET. A federal security clearance is required, and strong collaboration across teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related discipline.

• Networking within AWS Cloud and connections to On-prem and Azure.
• 6+ years of experience with cloud architecture/engineering design, with 3+ years on Palo Alto networking.

ViaTrie LLC (ViaTrie) has an immediate need for a Lead Cloud Solution Engineer for a project supporting our client, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) Innovation Lab to build and expand services available in their primarily Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem. ViaTrie will be supporting GAO with the execution of cloud capabilities.

This is a 100% remote position; however, you must be a U.S. citizen (no dual citizenships, Green cards or H1-Bs) based in the U.S. and able to obtain a Federal Government Security Clearance, and be willing and able to work core business hours 8 AM - 5 PM (Eastern) M-F.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of a cross-functional team and will possess strong analytic experience, solid cloud technical skills and excellent communication skills to support cloud planning and implementation functions across an enterprise-wide cloud services program.

Our team is creating cloud capabilities across GAO. As a cloud/network engineer, we need you to create cloud-based technical architectures and cost estimates and build out environments to satisfy the GAO Innovation Lab’s objectives. GAO aims to modernize its IT solutions to realize the benefits of new design approaches, features, and functionalities like modular builds, loose coupling, micro services, containers, cybersecurity resilience, access controls, and disaster recovery. Modern solutions must be future-ready, adaptable, resilient, responsive to changing business needs, and be able to shift away from on premises infrastructure to cloud architecture, which may include hybrid cloud services.

You will work with the GAO Innovation Lab’s team to analyze solution options and implement new functionality enterprise-wide. We aim for high-touch, transparent, standards-based and compliance solutions for our customers. Our program includes projects that vary from engagement to engagement as we research current environments to propose new technical solutions and architectures. Our solutions include both large- and small-application portfolios with a goal to design with DevSecOps paradigms in mind.

A sampling of job activities include:

• Conduct cloud networking/engineer services architecture planning and engineering necessary to design and deploy GAO Innovation Lab capabilities.
• Create and execute migration plans for mission-critical software applications from on-prem to the cloud.
• Work cross-functionally across GAO groups to identify impacts in processes and business value for enterprise approaches, developing implementation plans and success objectives.
• Develop baseline analyses of IT system and infrastructure requirements, demand, and total cost associated with IT commodities and services (including, but not limited to, networks, data centers, and applications).
• Develop IT networking solutions, alternative analyses and business cases.
• Conduct IT services architecture planning and engineering necessary to design and deploy GAO enterprise IT solutions.
• Work cross-functionally across customer and GAO groups to identify impacts in processes and business value for enterprise approaches, developing implementation plans and success objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related discipline.
• Experience designing, implementing, and operating Federal cloud ecosystems in AWS a must.
• Network engineer experience, specifically with Palo Alto FWs, GlobalProtect VPNs, Z-Scaler, Entra ID integration
• Networking within AWS Cloud and connections to On-prem and Azure
• AWS cloud networking experience, including but not limited to: Transit Gateways, Gateway Load Balancers
• 6+ years of experience with cloud architecture/engineering design/support, with a minimum of 3 years of experience with Palo Alto networking.
• Experience designing, implementing and debugging complex network design architectures in a Federal Government ecosystem
• Good working knowledge of and experience with FISMA and implementing FedRAMP. standards and compliance requirements (NIST).
• Experience configuring Transit Gateway in hybrid on-prem and cloud environmentsExperience with providing high availability and resilient cloud networking solutions using methods, including clustering or failover.

• Hands-on experience in designing, developing and the implementation of architectural and data deliverables in an enterprise cloud environment for a large-scale Federal government agency.
• Experience providing architecture and strategic guidance for networking capabilities.
• Ability to analyze processes, gaps, resolutions, and share lessons learned.
• Infrastructure as code experience – creation and execution of scripting in Python and CloudFormation templates.
• Experience with Git-based repositories
• Experience working within Agile lifecycle – specifically SAFe.
• Must be able to obtain a Federal Government Security Clearance and pass a Credit Check

Preferred Qualifications

• Expert working knowledge of the Microsoft Office product suites.
• Good interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate effectively, combined with excellent written andoral communication skills in English.
