Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Cloud Architect in the Lynchburg, VA area to define and govern Azure cloud architectures, including landing zones, compute, networking, storage, and security.

You will lead DevOps practices, implement CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, and drive automation across provisioning and configuration management while optimizing costs and security.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of professional experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or related disciplines.
• Deep hands-on experience designing and implementing Azure architecture and landing zones.
• Strong understanding of Azure IaaS and PaaS services, including compute, networking, storage, and security.
• Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Hands-on experience authoring production Infrastructure as Code focused on modularity and reusable code patterns.
• Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines at scale using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, security architecture, and identity management in cloud environments.
• Strong system design background spanning CDN, caching strategies, message bus, API gateways, and load balancing.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills for conveying complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong documentation, decision-making, and presentation skills.
• Strategic thinking and strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to influence technical direction without direct authority.
• Highly collaborative, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities
