Job summary

Peraton in Annapolis Junction, MD, seeks a Cloud Software Engineer to develop and enhance cloud-based applications supporting national security operations. You will work in an Agile environment using DevOps tools to deliver secure, scalable solutions onsite.

The role targets engineers with an active TS/SCI clearance and polygraph, with opportunities to grow in full-stack, REST APIs, Docker/Kubernetes, and AWS while collaborating across teams.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph.
• Two years of software development/engineering or related technical experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field may substitute for two years of experience.
• Experience with Java development (academic or professional).
• Experience using Git or GitLab.
• Experience with full-stack development (Java and/or JavaScript).
• Familiarity with React or Vue.js.
• Experience working with REST APIs and JSON.
• Familiarity with MongoDB.
• Exposure to Docker and containerization concepts.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools.
• Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins).
• Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
• One of the following certifications is desired: AWS Certified Developer - Associate - AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional - Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).

About The Role

The team is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to support our Cyber Mission business unit in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will contribute to developing and enhancing cloud-based applications that directly support national security operations. You'll work in a collaborative Agile environment leveraging DevOps tools and modern cloud technologies to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions. This role is ideal for junior engineers with an active TS/SCI clearance and polygraph who are looking to grow their skills in a mission-driven environment. This position is performed onsite at a contractor facility, with telework flexibility based on tasking and customer approval.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with current polygraph is required
• Two (2) years of experience in software development/engineering or related technical experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field may substitute for two (2) years of experience - Acceptable fields include Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or similar
• Experience with Java development (academic or professional)
• Experience using Git or GitLab

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to full-stack development (Java and/or JavaScript)
• Familiarity with React or Vue.js
• Experience working with REST APIs and JSONFamiliarity with MongoDB
• Exposure to Docker and containerization concepts

Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
